What helped me when I was job searching:
One small shift that made a real difference.

One thing I noticed pretty quickly was that timing mattered more than I expected. A lot of roles I saw on LinkedIn had been posted months earlier and were just being automatically resurfaced. I rarely heard back from those applications.

When I shifted my approach and focused on roles posted within the last one to three days, especially using Google’s job search filters, my response rate improved noticeably. Being early made a real difference.

I also rarely applied directly through LinkedIn or other job boards unless that was the only option. If I found a role on LinkedIn, I went to the organization’s website to confirm the role was still live before applying.

That extra step helped me avoid wasting time on stale postings and gave me more confidence that my application was actually being reviewed.

I was job searching at the same time as a few friends, and using this approach consistently helped me land my next role within about a month. It’s not a guarantee, but it made the process feel more intentional and less discouraging.
